Balloon sinuplasty, or dilation of sinus openings is a relatively new technique for performing sinus surgery. The concept of using a balloon to widen the sinus openings was inspired by the use of balloons to dilate arteries during angioplasty. If a balloon could be used to dilate an artery, it also be used to dilate a sinus opening in a manner that is less traumatic than other surgical methods. The technique is safe and minimally invasive since it does not result in tissue or bone removal. Without tissue removal there is less bleeding, recovery time may be reduced, and there may be less pain than with other techniques. This procedure is performed using endoscopic instruments and may be used with other medical therapies or sinus surgery techniques. It does not limit future treatment options if you have progressive disease.  It may also be performed in the office setting.

We perform skin allergy testing in our office to determine which antigens are causing your symptoms.

To treat your symptoms, we offer under the tongue Allergy Drops, also known as sublingual immunotherapy (or SLIT), as an alternative to allergy shots.  Although this treatment is not currently FDA approved, it has shown great success in the U.S. and Europe for many years and many studies show that allergy drops are safe and effective.  Allergy drops use the same, proven medical antigens as the traditional allergy shots have for years.

The patient administers the drop daily under their tongue each day, and builds up doses over several months until a maintenance level is achieved.
